A food knowledge sharing community.
In 2021 I made two major moves that set me on exciting new paths of change and growth. Switching careers and having my son have been great, but I’ve struggled to find a new ‘normal’ nearly five years in. Join me as I focus on finding a more fulfilling balance between work, family, and hobbies.
After a stint of binging Monty Don’s Gardener’s World and reconnecting with my awe of cultivated outdoor spaces – I started doing a few more projects around the yard and in my flower beds. That momentum evolved into a producing herb and vegetable garden that I’m now striving to make the most of (or at least not waste). I’m loving this learning journey. It’s been a fulfilling creative outlet that I want to share with anyone looking to learn more about growing plants, gardening, and making better use of garden goods. This blog will cover topics exploring:
· Gardening Skills, Basic to Advanced
· Making Vegetables the highlight (instead of the afterthought) of a meal
· Cooking with and Preserving fresh Fruit and Veg
· Connecting to the outdoors, your community, and your local food chain
I’m an omnivore, but for most of my life, vegetables were rarely a delightful part of the meal I looked forward to. I want to change that, so I’m learning how to practically make garden goods the exciting part of what my family eats. Look forward to ideas on vegetable dishes and whether they become family favorites.
I also care deeply about my local community and want to engage and support it more directly through connecting with local gardens and farms. I’m spending lots of time in my own garden but look forward to learning more about the garden and farming community around Winston-Salem North Carolina.
