GROW Cucumbers

After clearing my garden bed, I teetered on the edge of indecision.  I wanted to try growing something we’d eat but hated the idea of not knowing what to do with the harvest and throwing away ‘good food.’ 

And then, rather than make a conscious decision to commit to this, I let whim guide me.

I was driving through Welcome NC toward Lexington and stopped by this amazing farm stand where they were selling plant starts that included cucumbers.

With no sense of which varieties best fit my needs, but with Mackabe’s Cucumba Song inspiring me, I confidently chose one labeled ‘burpless,’ and dropped them in my garden bed.

The clock was now started on giving them a trellis to grow up.
